General Veterinary Medicine
The curriculum of General Veterinary Medicine Study Program is focused mainly on the diagnosis, therapy and prevention of diseases of pets and livestock. Part of the curriculum is the teaching of ecology and environmental protection.
This study program was evaluated by the European Commission in 1997 and re-validated in 2005 and fully complies with EU standards.
Based on the decision of the European Committee of Veterinary Education (ECOVE), the current status of the University is "approval" and "accreditation".
Prospects of graduates
The General Veterinary Medicine Study Program - graduates can find employment as a state/private veterinarian, in the management of animal production, in the facilities of the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic, Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic, in animal breeding, in the field of protection of state borders, ecology, protection of environment, scientific research, development and education, the production of bioproducts, pharmaceuticals, on the contact section with human medicine and health services.

Admission of a candidate to study at UVMP in Košice is conditioned by obtaining full secondary education or full specialised secondary education and successfull passing of the admission procedure, including entrance exams from Biology and Chemistry, unless different admission requirements were approved. The order of candidates is determined on the basis of the number of points achieved from Biology and Chemistry tests.

Prijatie uchádzača o štúdium na UVLF v Košiciach je podmienené získaním úplného stredného vzdelania alebo úplného stredného odborného vzdelania a úspešným absolvovaním prijímacieho konania, vrátane prijímacích testov, ak neboli stanovené iné podmienky. Poradie uchádzačov sa stanoví na základe počtu dosiahnutých bodov z testov z biológie a chémie.
