Prospects of graduates

A graduate knows the basic principles of medicine and is able to apply them in his/her profession, he/she masters the basic methods of medical examination using  more simple technical equipment and basic laboratory and examination methods and their interpretation including diagnostics, differential diagnostics and treatment of more frequently occurring diseases. In case of life-threatening situations, he/she also knows the basics of providing qualified first aid. He/she is able,  under the supervision of  experienced physician, to assure healthcare on the relevant level of organisational structure,  he/she is also prepared to work in the primary healthcare, he/she masters the basic principles and organisation of healthcare system, basic medical legal norms needed for performance of the profession,  which give    him/her pre-conditions to acquire specialisation in the individual medical fields after completion of prescribed practice, post-graduate studies and exams,  or he/she could find a job in a medical research. According to the valid legislation, automatic recognition of diploma in the EU countries is guaranteed to the graduates of General Medicine study programme for preparation of regulated profession.

Conditions of admission

The basic requirement for admission is the completion of secondary education or  secondary technical education. Another requirement is the successful passing  of entrance examination.

General information on the admission exam
  • the faculty requires electronic registration of the application form according to the instructions posted on the  website www.jfmed.uniba.sk,
  • knowledge covering secondary school curriculum is required
  • the faculty shall send detailed information about the admission procedure in March 2021
  • with your application form, please enclose a brief curriculum vitae, personally signed,
  • do not send any certificates, diplomas with your application form
  • a certified copy of your secondary school certificate shall be submitted at entrance examination,
  • if an applicant submits an application for more than one  bachelor´s study programmes, these shall be stated in one single application form and only one payment  shall be made,  if an applicant submits applications for more study programmes in different  study cycles, he/she submits an application and makes payment for each study programme separately, and has to sit for entrance examination for each study programme,
  • in case an applicant cannot sit for entrance examination on a regular date for serious reasons, he/she may  apply in writing for an alternative  date of entrance examination no later than 7 days before the regular  date of the entrance examination,  request has to be addressed to the study department of JFMED
