Prospects of graduates

The graduates of the Bachelor's degree in Urgent Medical Care will be employed in primary, secondary and follow-up health care as paramedics. After obtaining the specialisation, they will be employed in the performance of specialised activities.

Conditions of admission

for the admission procedure in the external form of study:

- Attention!  From the academic year 2016/2017 the study takes four years

- completed  secondary vocational education with a final examination in the study field of paramedic and at least 1 year of professional experience in the emergency service (basic components of the integrated rescue system) or in the study field of general nurse (not medical assistant) who performs the activity of a paramedic with at least 5 years of experience in permanent employment in the emergency medical service (ambulance, ambulance - not ARO and ICU),

- completed secondary vocational education with a final examination in the study field  of paramedic

- a qualified general nurse who is a paramedic with at least 3 years' experience in permanent employment in an emergency medical service (ambulance, R.N.P. - not A.R.U. and ICU),

- a qualified general nurse who is a paramedic with at least 3 years' experience in permanent employment in an emergency medical service (R.N.P., R.R.P. - not A.R.U. and ICU),

-  filled in and signed application form with required attachments and receipt of the paid admission fee

- acquired competence to practise the profession in the relevant field,

- work in the field of study at the time of registration and throughout the study. The employer's confirmation of employment must be attached to the application form.

- a medical certificate stating that he/she meets the prescribed medical criteria for the exercise of the health profession,

During the study period, it is stipulated that clinical practice at accredited and designated workplaces of SMU in the range of 180 -240 hours for each semester must be completed.



Additional information

The Faculty of Nursing and Professional Health Studies of the Slovak Medical University in Bratislava reserves the right not to open bachelor programmes in case of a lower number of applicants than the planned number.It also reserves the right not to open any of these study programmes for other serious reasons.



General information on the admission exam

- you must register your application electronically via the MAIS academic information system at https://mais.szu.sk/eprihlaska (Mozilla Firefox browser) and subsequently send the printed application form with the required attachments by post,

The application form must be accompanied by:

- matriculation certificate - photocopy certified by a notary or registry office,

- applicants in the external form of study: if they have a higher vocational education, shall also attach a certified copy of the diploma of completion of higher vocational studies,

- a brief curriculum vitae,

- a doctor's medical certificate - required on the application form,

- confirmation of work experience in the relevant field of study to be attached only by applicants for the external form of study,

- applicants who are graduating in the current academic year will submit their matriculation certificate (certified copy) on the day of the entrance exam,

- if the applicant wishes to apply for more than one study programme at the University, he/she must submit a separate application for each study programme separately and pay the application fee for each application separately,
