  • Faculty of Education - Teaching of Subjects of Informatics
  • Faculty of Education - Teaching of the Subjects of Mathematics
  • Faculty of Education - Teaching of Religious Studies
  • Faculty of Education - Russian language and literature teacher (in combination)
  • Faculty of Education - Art teacher (in combination)

The graduates of the master's study field are eligible to perform, according to the achieved degree of education, the profession of a teacher of relevant subjects at the level of lower and upper secondary education, the profession of a methodologist for teaching specific subjects and subject groups, a specialized employee of the state administration for the field of education and training in primary and secondary schools, in the single-subject study of the field - a teacher of the relevant general education (or vocational) subject (groups of subjects) at the level of primary, lower and upper secondary education, respectively. leisure time animator (e.g. in ZUŠ), leisure time animator. A graduate of the second cycle of higher education in subject teaching is qualified to be a teacher of subjects belonging to his/her specialisation at primary and secondary education level. He/she knows the basic content of the disciplines of his/her specialisation, the principles of its structure, is familiar with the methodology of the production of the content of the discipline and its wider cultural and social context. He/she can handle this content as a product of human (scientific) activity and, in this context, can project it for didactic purposes and aims. In addition to mastering teaching competence (designing, implementing and reflecting on classroom teaching), he is able to participate in the development of methodological materials for teaching. He also has an adequate knowledge of research and development methods in the didactics of his field.

Conditions of admission

The number of admitted students for the academic year 2023/2024 may be adjusted according to the interest in studies and the possibilities of the PF KU.
Admission Requirements:
- for the study programme Teaching for Primary Education, the basic condition of admission is the completion of a bachelor's degree in the study programme Preschool and Elementary Education;
- for the study programme Teaching of Physical Education (single subject/in combination), the basic condition of admission is the completion of the same bachelor's/master's degree programme;
- for other study programmes, the completion of the same or a related bachelor's/master's degree programme (definition of related fields of study: www.accreditation.sk);
- commitment to respect the Catholic spirit of the university and the faculty;
- for teacher study programmes in art education, music education and musical arts (piano, organ or solo singing), the successful completion of a talent test is a prerequisite (see the talent test section);
- other study programmes - without a talent test;
- those applicants who best meet the established admission requirements will be admitted to the study;
- all applicants who have achieved a grade lower than D in the state final examination during their Bachelor's studies must take part in the admission examination in the field of study.
The ranking of applicants will be based on the following rules:
▪ The ranking of applicants will be based on the results achieved in the bachelor's studies (average of the state examination).
▪ In the case of talent examinations, the ranking will be calculated as follows: 50% for the results in the bachelor's studies and 50% for the talent examination.
▪ If more than one applicant meets the admission requirements for a given study programme, those applicants who have demonstrated the highest level of aptitude for the study according to the admission requirements will be admitted.

General information on the admission exam

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ADMISSION PROCEDURE
In case the applicant wishes to apply for more than one study programme, he/she has to apply for each study programme separately.
The application must be accompanied by:
- CV;
- certified copy of diploma and certificate from bachelor's studies;
- proof of payment of the fee, which has to be pasted on the 3rd page of the application form. Without proof of payment, the application will not be registered. The admission fee is non-refundable;
- the applicant for the study programme Teaching for Primary Education shall submit a medical certificate of the ability to take physical education without limitations and a certificate from a professional employee - speech therapist that the applicant does not have impaired communication skills;
- the applicant for the study programme Teaching for Physical Education shall also submit a medical certificate of medical fitness https://www.ku.sk/app/cmsSiteBoxAttachment.php?ID=6946&cmsDataID=0 ;
- an applicant for the study programme Special Education and Education of the Mentally Disabled shall submit a certificate from a professional employee - speech therapist that the applicant does not have impaired communication skills;
- applicants who require specific conditions for health reasons shall inform the faculty about this when submitting their application;
- in the case of applicants who have obtained their first degree abroad, a decision on the recognition of the foreign document of education for academic purposes (more information on the website of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic: http://minedu.
Confirmation of the registration of the application and information on the further process in the admission procedure will be sent to applicants in writing. In case of a low number of applicants for the study of teaching in one of the subject combinations, the faculty will propose applicants to study in other combinations.

The Art Talent Examination consists of two parts: theoretical and practical. Theoretical knowledge is demonstrated in the exam in art history, which focuses on historical or contemporary issues in the visual arts. The practical exam consists of active creative work, which is carried out in each studio, i.e. the studio of intermedia, design and craft, surface art disciplines, spatial art disciplines. The candidate will take a practical examination on a topic that is announced at the time of the entrance examination. The practical examination includes a presentation of a portfolio from each art studio.
