Prospects of graduates

The faculty trains specialists for the field of pre-school education, for the first stage of primary school (teaching for primary education) and teachers of academic, artistic-educational and educational subjects in primary schools, primary art schools and secondary schools. As one of the few faculties in the Slovak Republic, it creates an educational base for the entire field of special education, which allows to provide training of teachers and educators for all kinds of special schools and institutions for children and youth with special educational needs. In addition, the faculty trains specialists in foreign languages and cultures. In the field of speech therapy, graduates are qualified to practise as speech therapists in the health, education and labour and social affairs departments as well as in non-state institutions. In the field of therapeutic pedagogy, the faculty prepares specialists to carry out therapeutic pedagogical professional activities in the education, health and social affairs departments. Graduates of social pedagogy studies acquire professional competence as social pedagogues, foster carers, educators and as state and local government workers in the field of child and youth care. The Department of Social Work educates social workers for various fields of social work.

Conditions of admission

Secondary education with a high school diploma.

In the case of a larger number of applicants than the expected number of applicants admitted to a given study programme, the faculty reserves the right to select applicants according to the average of marks on the matriculation examination.



Additional information

Accommodation options The basic criteria for providing accommodation in student homes are study results, time availability of the place of permanent residence from Bratislava, social situation of the student. Students with disabilities are given preference.



Conditions for international students

The criteria and dates of the entrance examinations at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University for foreigners are the same as for citizens of the Slovak Republic. At the same time, foreign applicants* who acquire secondary education at a foreign secondary school are obliged to submit an officially certified translation of their matriculation certificate and proof of equivalence of education issued by the relevant District Office - Department of Education. In the case of a different grading scale, the applicant is also required to submit the equivalence of the grades of the school leaving certificate (issued by the Ministry of Education and Science). If the foreign applicant** does not pass the Slovak language exam as part of the matriculation examination, he/she is obliged to prove his/her knowledge of the Slovak language at least at the B2 level according to the ESFR in the form of a standardised certificate/state examination. Only officially certified copies of documents are accepted.

*Documents from recognised Czech schools issued in the Czech Republic are equivalent in the Slovak Republic without recognition for the purposes of academic recognition.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

Applicants who will be admitted without an entrance examination shall deliver an officially certified copy of their matriculation certificate to the Study Department of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University immediately after passing the matriculation examination, no later than June 15, 2022.The date of delivery of the document is decisive and not the date of submission at the post office.



Coordinator for students with specific needs

In accordance with the directive of the Rector of Charles University, Internal Regulation No. 23/2014, applicants with disabilities are advised to contact the coordinators for work with disabled students in advance (or send a request for the creation of conditions for the entrance examination together with the application form), which will allow sufficient space for their preparation.
