Teaching the subjects of History

This study program must be combined with one of the following study programs:

  • Faculty of Education - Russian language and literature teacher (in combination)
  • Faculty of Education - teacher of Italian language and literature (in combination)
  • Pedagogická fakulta - učiteľstvo telesnej výchovy v kombinácii
  • Faculty of Education - Art teacher (in combination)

The graduate is qualified to be a teacher of subjects belonging to his/her specialisation at the level of the second level of primary school and secondary school. He/she knows the basic content of the disciplines of his/her specialisation, the principles of its structure, is familiar with the methodology of the production of the content of the discipline and its broader context. He/she is able to handle this content as a product of scientific activity and is able to project it for didactic aims and purposes. In addition to mastering teaching competence, he/she is able to participate in the development of methodological materials for teaching. He or she also has adequate knowledge of research and development methods in the didactics of his or her field of study.

History teaching can be studied at the Faculty of Arts KU in combination with: Slovak language and literature, German language and literature, English language and literature, philosophy, religious education.



Prospects of graduates

The graduate is qualified to exercise the profession of a teacher of relevant subjects at the level of the second level of primary school and secondary school, a methodologist for teaching specific subjects and subject groups, a specialized employee of state and public administration for the field of education and training of regional education.

Conditions of admission

Conditions for admission to study for the study programmes PHILOSOPHY, HISTORY, JOURNALISM, TEACHING SUBJECTS IN COMBINATION and INTERMEDICAL STUDIES

  • graduation from a first (Bachelor's degree programme) or second (Master's degree programme) degree programme;
  • graduation from a first (Bachelor's degree programme) or second (Master's degree programme) degree programme
  • for the study programme Teaching of subjects in combination completion of the study programme of the first (bachelor's study programme) or second degree (master's study programme) in the study field 38. teaching and pedagogical sciences;
  • commitment to respect the Catholic spirit of the university and the faculty;
  • in the case of applicants to the study programme TeACHING SLOVAK LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE IN COMBINATION, who have obtained secondary education and/or first degree (B.Sc.) outside the Slovak Republic, it is necessary to prove the level of proficiency in the Slovak language (according to the Common European Framework of Reference) - at least at the B2 level;

The final ranking of applicants will be based on the average calculated from the result of the state examination and the weighted study average during the bachelor's studies. When ranking candidates for interdisciplinary studies and teacher training programmes, the resulting ranking of candidates is produced separately for each subject combination.



Additional information

The KU Faculty of Arts also offers the possibility of inter-faculty teaching combinations, i.e. the candidate can choose one subject from the offer of the KU Faculty of Arts and one subject from the offer of the KU Faculty of Education (accredited study programmes of the Faculty of Arts can be found at http://pf.ku.sk). Applicants for interfaculty programmes must meet the admission requirements from both teaching subject specialisations.

For the music education and art education teacher specialization programs, successful completion of a talent exam is required.

The Faculty also reserves the right not to open a study programme for which a low number of candidates apply. In this case, the application forms with all attachments as well as the admission fee will be returned to the applicant.

Handicapped applicants may request that the form and manner of the entrance examination be determined taking into account their handicap (written request to be sent together with the application form).

Under the current system of fields of study in which universities in the Slovak Republic may provide higher education, the field of study 38. Teaching and Educational Sciences replaces the following fields of study:

teaching of academic subjects, teaching of vocational subjects and practical training, teaching of artistic-educational subjects, pedagogy, pre-school and elementary pedagogy, special pedagogy, andragogy, departmental didactics

General information on the admission exam

The application must be accompanied by:

a) certified copies of documents of graduation (bachelor's diploma, diploma supplement and state examination certificate), if it concerns applicants who did not complete the bachelor's study programme at the Faculty of Arts KU in Ružomberok,

b) in the case of applicants who have obtained their higher education abroad (outside the Czech Republic), it is necessary to submit a decision on the recognition of the foreign document of education no later than on the day of enrolment,

c) confirmation of payment of the fee, in the case of a traditional paper application, to be pasted on the 3rd page of the application form, in the case of an electronic application, to be sent as an electronic attachment. Without proof of payment, the application will not be registered.

- €30 in case of using the traditional college application form (SEVT).

Student applicants can also submit only electronic application form without the need to print it, sign it and send it to the postal address of the faculty.

Acknowledgement of the application form and information about the further process in the admission procedure will be sent to applicants by electronic or conventional mail.

Deadline for verification of fulfilment of admission requirements: no later than 30 June 2022

A written decision on the result of the admission procedure will be sent to applicants no later than 30 days after the verification of the fulfilment of the conditions of admission to the study. The written decision shall be delivered to the applicants by hand.
