Computer-assisted Material Engineering

Prospects of graduates
Graduate of the “Computer-assisted materials engineering” bachelor study programme (the field of study: 36. Mechanical engineering) has basic knowledge in the area of production, testing methods of various materials, technological processing, selection as well as degradation of the properties, considering main types of technical materials. He/she has been educated especially for work in any industrial company in the area of production of technical materials, technological processing of technical materials into semi-finished products and final products. Moreover, the graduate has adequate skills in relation to the area of quality control, purchase and sale of materials as well as service and maintenance. He/she has acquired skills and important basic abilities to determine the mechanical properties of materials and he/she can work with various testing equipment to evaluate the structure of materials. In addition, based on the specification of the study programme, the given graduate has important knowledge relating to computational modelling and materials simulation under the loading, resulting into the optimisation of design in terms of operational (in-service) loading. Based on the mentioned facts, the graduate is able to work as member of research and development teams, to solve technical problems independently and he/she can be in permanent contact with continuous technical developments in the area of technical materials. They are educated in such a way to be able to continue in their own professional growth.

The graduate can be employed as an operational technologist to solve the computer-assisted (aided) problems or issues for plants or companies which produce semi-products and final products of inorganic and organic materials. He/she can also work as a specialist in computational modelling and design for technical design offices (companies). Moreover, the graduate is also able to carry out experiments on his/her own and to evaluate them in routine cases and therefore, he/she can work as a specialised technical personnel for research in chemical and material laboratories where the computational modelling skills as well as design skills are necessary for research and development activities. His/her knowledge of managerial and economic subjects predestines him/her to be the leader of the small specialized operational technical team, where the independent and operational decision (resolution) is required.
Graduates of the given bachelor study programme can continue in their engineering study at our faculty, university or at any other universities with the same or related study programmes and study fields.
