Prospects of graduates

The graduate of the third degree of university study in the study program of Materials (study field: 36. Mechanical engineering) acquires deep knowledge in the areas of physical and chemical properties of materials, including diagnostics and computational simulation of materials physical properties. The given graduate has the knowledge and skills which are needed for investigation and development of new materials, utilising the common as well as the latest scientific methods and procedures. Moreover, the graduate is specialist in relation to the various scientific methods for the research and development of new materials as well as technologies for materials processing and production into semi-finished products and final products. He/she is familiar with the mutual connections referring to “the research-development-production-application-recycling process”. In addition, he/she is well acquainted with scientific formulation of the problem, legal and environmental aspects of new products, presentation of results and it leads to the contribution to practice and dissemination of the top-level knowledge. The graduate of the doctoral study is absolutely familiar with the methods of scientific work and brings his/her own solutions to the problems in the field of materials. He/she is able to solve problems of a wide range of construction materials and to predict their utility properties, resulting from the wide broad theoretical knowledge.

The graduate of the third degree of university study in the study programme of Materials (study field: 36. Mechanical Engineering) is able to solve the most demanding and difficult tasks or issues of technical practice as well as to improve the properties of existing materials. Moreover, the given graduate can improve the technical aspect of the quality relating to production of materials, components, tools and facilities. Based on deep theoretical knowledge, he/she is able to use the appropriate methods of scientific work as well as bring his/her own solutions to problems in the field of materials, including the solution of the problems of a wide range of construction materials and prediction of their utility properties. The graduate is able to work independently in a scientific team and he/she is able to manage the work of the team after training process. He/she is creative and ready to develop and improve his/her knowledge and skills in the specialised technical field. The graduate can work in research institutes, universities as well as in high-level company position as a manager with a focus on metal, polymer, inorganic or textile materials, thin films, diagnostics and testing procedures.

Conditions of admission

Completed engineering study in a close field of study is required. The applicant will undergo an entrance examination with focus to verify the prerequisites for doctoral study (knowledge of a broader scientific basis, language prerequisites, etc.). The form of the admission procedure is a personal interview with the members of the admissions committee.



Conditions for international students

The conditions of admission for foreign applicants are identical with the conditions of admission of Slovak students.

Billing information

Admission fee for the admission procedure in the form of a bank payment order (demand for payment). The fee must be paid within 14 days after sending the e-application.
If you do not use the above-described comfortable e-application process and if you send the application in the form of hard copy (printed version of application order), the payment details will be sent to your e-mail address after receiving the paper application. The admission fee must be paid within 14 days after receiving the payment order (demand for payment) by e-mail.

COMPULSORY DOCUMENTS OR ENCLOSURES WHICH HAVE TO BE THE PART OF THE APPLICATION FORM FOR DOCTORAL STUDY
• the officially verified and authentic photocopy of the state examination certificate or (not obligatory for graduates of our faculty);
• the officially verified proof referring to completion of the 2nddegree of university study – diploma (not obligatory for graduates of our faculty);
• the Diploma Supplement – the proof on study results (not obligatory for graduates of our faculty);
• the Structured Curriculum Vitae (Resume);
• the admission fee is € 17.00 and it has to be paid by bank transfer.
