Social Work

Study in Social Work prepares university-educated, independent workers capable of providing, coordinating and directly implementing social work, which includes the provision of social care and assistance to all groups of the population dependent on any of the types and forms of social work and social services.

The curricula for both degrees are designed to provide an opportunity for the acquisition of the theoretical knowledge necessary for the practice of social work and also for the training and development of practical skills, particularly through professional practice and supervision. Emphasis is placed on the student's independent and creative work, the development of their critical thinking and the promotion of their professional development.

Social work is a multidisciplinary field of scientific knowledge that deals with the scientific understanding of social problems - their origins, causes, possible solutions, the question of the responsibility of the citizen and the state, the optimal level and forms of assistance for the individual, group or community. The study programme is organised in such a way as to prepare future graduates for the performance of social work in direct practice with clients, in the field of organisational and management activities with a focus on social work and social services as well as for scientific research work in this field.

Prospects of graduates

Graduates of our social work study programme (Bc., Mgr.) have the opportunity to work in the following institutions:

ministry of labour, social affairs and family,
Ministry of Education,
the Ministry of Health,
Ministry of the Interior,
Ministry of Justice,
and in international institutions such as UNICEF, UNHCR, etc.

The main focus of employment of graduates of the social work study programme is direct practice carried out:

directly in the field,
in state and local government organisations,
in non-profit organisations implementing social work and social services.

Graduates of the social work study programme have the opportunity to apply in the following institutions:

children's homes,
institutions for the elderly,
re-education homes,
asylums,
crisis centres,
resocialisation facilities,
offices of labour, social affairs and family,
institutions for the execution of prison sentences,
community centres and low-threshold centres,
healthcare facilities - hospitals, spas, sanatoriums, LDCH, hospice facilities, etc.

Conditions of admission

Admission to the second level of higher education is based on the selection procedure and successful completion of the first level of higher education, where the weighted average of the study results at the bachelor's level of study will be taken into account.

The application form includes:

- CV

-receipt of payment of the admission fee

- medical certificate of eligibility to study at the university

Medical fitness certificate - social work

- certified photocopies of documents of the results of the Bc. of studies (diploma, leaving certificate documents of graduation (certified)

Electronic application form must be accompanied by a hard copy application form with signature.

If an applicant fails to complete the required parts of the application form within the stipulated time limit after being asked to complete the missing parts of the application form, he/she shall be disqualified from admission. The admission fee will not be refunded.
