Russian and Eastern European studies

V priebehu celého bakalárskeho štúdia sa venuje široký priestor praktickému osvojeniu ruského jazyka (takmer polovica kreditov za povinné predmety). Okrem vlastných jazykových cvičení absolvujú poslucháči počas troch rokov aj kurzy správnej výslovnosti, gramatiky, praktickej štylistiky a lingvoreálií. Súčasťou štúdia je aj jazyk odborných textov a konzekutívne tlmočenie. Okrem toho si poslucháči zapisujú kurzy z dejín ruskej literatúry, ako aj predmety venované dejinám, kultúre a súčasným sociálnym a politickým pomerom Ruska a ďalších východoeurópskych krajín. V rámci programu si poslucháči počas 2 semestrov povinne zapisujú druhý slovanský jazyk podľa vlastného výberu (bulharčina, srbčina, slovinčina, poľština, chorvátčina, macedónčina, ukrajinčina) a ako výberový si môžu zapísať aj kurz základov slavistiky. Štúdium predpokladá mierne pokročilú znalosť anglického jazyka, ktorú poslucháči ďalej rozvíjajú v rámci predmetu Odborná angličtina (4 semestre, 12 kreditov). Počas bakalárskeho štúdia môžu poslucháči absolvovať semestrálny pobyt v niektorej východoeurópskej krajine (napr. v Bulharsku, Fínsku či Rusku) so štipendiom MŠ SR, resp. s príspevkom, ktorý poskytujú európske programy na podporu mobility (Erasmus, CEEPUS).



Prospects of graduates

The faculty graduates find their application mainly as scientific and research, pedagogic and managerial employees, translators and interpreters, journalists, analytical, creative and service employees in different areas of economics, politics, public administration, education, health care, culture, science, in mass communication media, social services, etc.

Conditions od admission

To opened study programmes of the Faculty of Arts CU a predetermined number of applicants are accepted either without taking an entrance examination (in case of the study programmes ethics, history of book culture, philosophy classical languages, information studies, literature communication and libraries, museology and cultural heritage, pedagogy, Slovak language and literature, Slovak language and culture and teaching of academic subjects) and in case of study programmes the number of registered applicants is lower or equal to the determined number of applicants accepted for the study, or on the basis of entrance examination execution (in case of other study programmes). To opened study programmes where no entrance examination takes place the determined number of applicants will be accepted according to the order drawn up based on the study results at secondary school, or all applicants that applied for these study programmes will be accepted. To opened study programmes where an entrance examination takes place the determined number of applicants will be accepted according to the results of the entrance examination.

Znalosť ruského ani iného východoeurópskeho jazyka sa pri prijímaní na štúdium nepredpokladá.



Conditions for international students

Conditions of admission of foreign students are the same as the conditions of admission of SR citizens, with the exception of foreigners - self-payers, in case of which may the entrance proceeding have a form of entrance colloquium. Tuition for foreigners - self-payers is EUR 2,500 for an academic year.



Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

Na otvárané študijné programy, na ktoré sa prihlási nižší alebo rovnaký počet uchádzačov ako je vopred stanovený a zverejnený počet prijímaných na štúdium, sú uchádzači prijímaní bez vykonania prijímacej skúšky, resp. všetci prihlásení uchádzači.

General information on the admission exam

The admission procedure starts by submitting university study application. The applicant submits an application for the Bachelor level of university study on an official application form (form in A 3 format - as a double sheet). The applicant may submit only one application for study at the Faculty of Arts of CU. Within the defined groups study programmes (listed below), the applicant may apply for two study programmes. The applicant indicates them in one application form, with binding specification of the order of his/her preference. For other study programmes opened at the Faculty of Arts of CU (outside the defined groups) the applicant may submit an application for only one study programme.

The groups of study programmes within which the applicant may apply for two study programmes:

1.      group (without entrance exam): history of book culture, ethics, philosophy, classical languages, information studies, literature communication and libraries, museology and cultural heritage, pedagogy, Slovak language and literature, Slovak language and culture, teaching of academic subjects (in concrete combinations)

2.      group (unified entrance examination):  archeology, archival science, history

3.      group (unified entrance examination): ethnology, culturology, politology, sociology

The fee for admission shall be paid by the participants by money order of type U to the address of the faculty of in the form of bank transfer.  The payment confirmation is the  copy of the slip on payment of the fee, or confirmation of the bank on transfer execution (we do not accept mail confirmation from internet banking). The confirmation must be stuck on page 3 of the application. Without payment confirmation of the fee for admission procedure the application of the applicant will not be registered.

An aliquot part of the fee may be returned to those applicants that cancel the application in the term by 28 February, 2009 (EUR 33.19 / SKK 1000). Changes in the study programmes in the registered university study applications are after 15 March, 2009 inadmissible.

The faculty does not provide the university application form. The form is available on the website of the Ministry of Education SR and the Faculty of Arts CU.

The entrance exam to the Faculty of Arts CU may be attended by and accepted may be only applicants that have full secondary education or full secondary vocational education completed with a school leaving examination. The required document on acquiring secondary education is a copy of the school leaving certificate verified by a notary.. Copies of school leaving certificates not verified by a notary public, as well as not validated school leaving certificates from foreign secondary schools will not be accepted.

For study programmes without entrance exams the applicant sends a verified by a notary of all year-end school reports of the secondary school. In this case, the certified printout of all grades from the high school on the application form is not necessary.

Alternative date of the entrance exam may the dean of the faculty grant to the applicant, who asks for it in writing, but only in the case of participation of the applicant on another entrance exam on other faculty of the Comenius University in Bratislava (photocopy of the invitation to the entrance exam on other faculty of CU in Bratislava shall be attached to the request).

The dean of the faculty has the right to admit other applicants instead of admitted applicants who declare that they are not joining the study, or who don't confirm their interest in study at the stated time, according to the order arranged on the basis of the results of entrance exam in individual study programmes.
