Under the provisions of the current Higher Education Act, doctoral studies at EBF UK are the highest form of higher education. Doctoral studies are conducted according to an individual study plan under the guidance of a supervisor and are evaluated by a specialised committee established under the Higher Education Act. The individual study plan consists of a study and a scientific part, it is drawn up by the supervisor and approved by the departmental committee in accordance with Section 54(8) of the Higher Education Act. Doctoral studies in the full-time form shall include the doctoral student's pedagogical activity or other professional activity connected with it. The length of doctoral studies is determined by the accredited study programme.

Conditions of admission

Conditions for admission completed higher education 2. degree submission of a framework project of the dissertation thesis successful completion of an admission interview on a professional issue close to the chosen topic of the dissertation - part of the submitted project is presented in a foreign language (English, German) Method of evaluation in the admission committee for doctoral studies The candidate for doctoral studies is evaluated in the admission procedure according to the following criteria: Criterion Points evaluation Framework project of the dissertation 50 points Presentation of the submitted project in a world language (English, German) 15 points Knowledge of at least one of the classical and biblical languages (Greek, Hebrew, Latin) at the level of the Master's degree provided at the EBF UK in Bratislava 10 points Publication activity, professional awards, academic awards, etc. 10 points Weighted study average (hereinafter referred to as "GPA") 2 15 points. The applicant's final score is the average of the number of points awarded by each member of the committee. An applicant is successful in the admissions procedure if he/she obtains at least 60 out of a possible 100 points.



Coordinator for students with specific needs
  • Students with specific needs (on the basis of a professional certificate) may apply for a modified form or method of taking the entrance examination depending on the functional limitation due to the disability. They do so by written request attached to the application form, specifying the requirements for a modified entrance examination. We recommend that you consult with the faculty coordinator for work with students with specific needs before submitting your application.


General information on the admission exam

In accordance with the relevant legal norms, the faculty shall send the applicant an invitation to the entrance examination no later than 14 days before the date of the entrance examination, and shall also inform him/her of the content of the examination. The admission examination for doctoral studies shall be held before an admissions board consisting of a chair and at least two members appointed by the dean on the proposal of the chair of the board. In determining the order, the admissions committee shall also take into account the extent and quality of the applicant's professional publications or artistic activity and the results of his/her other professional activities. A report shall be drawn up on the result of the admission examination for doctoral studies.
