The Economics degree programme prepares graduates capable of conducting original research at the frontiers of knowledge from an international perspective, addressing the major economic issues of our time. Graduates have a thorough knowledge of economics and its applications in a variety of fields, the ability to think systematically, and the ability to use quantitative methods creatively to solve fundamental economic problems. They acquire skills and competences from leading economists while developing their own research agenda. They will find employment in academic positions in an international environment, prospectively in management positions in the public sector, as senior executives in the private sector, as well as in renowned research and international organisations. They may obtain positions in universities, as researchers in central banks and other domestic and international institutions, or as consultants or other professionals in the private sector. The University's extensive international links enable them to take courses taught by experts from leading universities around the world, including e.g. UniversityofViennaandWUWien,UniversityofCoimbra,CERGE-EI,ChapmanUniversity,in addition to internationally renowned local university lecturers. Students are independently engaged in an original research program that is closely supervised and guided by faculty members. In this regard, they work mainly with their supervisor. Regular research seminars with invited international experts, a PhD research seminar, and other academic activities contribute to their own development towards a personality capable of accepting responsibility for conducting research in a given scientific or professional field, presenting research results to the international professional community, and contributing to the development of society in the context of scientific and technological progress.
The study programme is conducted in English. It prepares graduates who are competitive in the international labour market. It reflects the fact that economic research at European level is conducted in English. It contributes to the internationalisation and openness of education at the EUBA Faculty of Economics through international cooperation with partner institutions, the active involvement of foreign professors and lecturers in teaching and research activities and doctoral seminars.
